Monthly Archives: April 2017

I know I’m probably biased because I’m a photographer… and you guys are probably just about sick of hearing me say this but photos are so important.  Photographs freeze those wonderfully fleeting moments you want to look back on. Photos remind you of how quickly life changes; how quickly those babies grow; of those wonderfully chaotic happy times.  Sure a certain smell or object can bring you back in time for a second but nothing quite serves as that window to the past like a photograph does. We met for tonight’s family session at their Toledo home. I often tell my clients to choose a location special to you. Sometimes a familiar location makes for the best backdrop. There’s some sort of comfortability in a place so familiar–it takes some of the uncomfortable “I’m in front of a camera” feeling away.

Tonight I spent a little time with the Szirony family documenting the blessings in their lives. In just a matter of a few years Sue and Charlie have seen their children graduate high school, attend college, two of their children got married and they now have four beautiful grandchildren. Life moves so quickly!

As challenges come and we are faced with uncertainty sometimes the most relieving thing is to reflect on the blessings surrounding us. Tonight was busy chasing all those grand-babies around but I hope in the chaos of it all, grandma got a chance to look around at her beautiful blessings. Her children and their spouses happy and in love; her grand babies soaking up every minute of being together at grandmas house. Because in the end family is everything!

Love deeply, loves <3

Macie Catherine- my sweet little niece! She came to our Toledo photography studio at six days old. I started planning her session pretty much as soon as I found out my sister was pregnant with her. Having months to plan a newborn session is a good and bad thing. It was great that I had time to prepare however I feel like I almost had too much time to prepare! Every time I came across a cute prop I was tempted to buy it (and most of the time did).

Before the session I also decided to try my hand at sewing outfits for my newborn photography sessions. I ended up sewing three different outfits for her! Along with all of the backdrops, tiebacks and bows I bought for her session I ended up having way more props than I’d ever get to use in one session. It doesn’t really bother me though because I’m positive I’ll have the chance to use them all in future sessions with other sweet babies.

We ended up using two of the outfits I made though and I was very pleased how they turned out. I especially love the little pink one with the low back and off white bow. It laid really nice on her and was so dainty and sweet… just like Macie.

From the beginning I knew parent and sibling posing would be a challenge with Sadie only being about 15 months old. I began researching different techniques and poses to help the session run smoothly as well as keep everyone safe. Jess also began preparing by having Sadie practice sitting still and smiling when prompted! She’s the cutest… she sits, looks at the camera and says “Cheee!!” (which is cheese in Sadie speech). She is then rewarded with a spree. And rightly so… it’s hard for any one year old to sit still! She did such a good job at the photo shoot!

Go ahead…scroll through this sweet baby’s newborn session and try to not catch baby fever!

This post comes from a very personal place. As I sat down to write this blog post I can’t help but feel simply overwhelmed with joy to the point of tearing up. This fresh 48 photography session is of my beautiful niece, Macie. She was born to Joel and Jessica March 31st in Toledo OH.

Eph 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

God works in wonderful, mysterious ways. For as long as I can remember my sister wanted to be a mom. She is the oldest in our family so maybe helping take care of us younger kids kind of engraved that mindset in her. She and her husband struggled with infertility and miscarriages for a while before they were blessed with their first daughter. Seeing them go through that struggle was so hard. Knowing how deeply they longed for a baby, seeing them go through this emotional roller coaster of hoping and praying only to be left with questions feeling helpless and with an even more broken heart left those of us closest to them also feeling helpless. As a bystander all you wish for is some way to comfort them to relieve some of the pain but all you can do is pray.

Fast forward about 2 years to now. Joel and Jessica have an absolutely beautiful family. They have two darling girls who are their whole world. I don’t know why God makes us wait sometimes but His way is perfect! These two little girls are so blessed to have the parents they do. Simply put Macie and Sadie are loved. Loved beyond what they’ll ever know! Not just by their parents but by their grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins and beyond.

Now to get to the sweet newborn baby goodness you guys are really here for, right?!

Macie Catherine
Born March 31st at 10:42pm
Weighing 7lbs 8oz
20 1/4 inches in length

She has the LONGEST fingers ever! Well to be honest her arms, legs and feet are really long too! (maybe she’ll take after her dad and be tall)

Don’t worry… this won’t be the last you’ll be seeing of Macie. Not only was she scheduled for our fresh 48 photography; her newborn photos are currently in the Q waiting to be blogged and she’s booked for our milestone package as well! You’ll get to see her at 3, 6, 9 and 12 months too!

Mary is graduating from State Line Christian School in Temperance MI this 2017 year! I graduated high school with Mary’s brother eight years ago (…boy time flies!) In other words, I’ve known Mary for a long time. It has been so fun getting to see Mary grow from a spunky little girl to a beautiful young lady. She is active in her school band, loves reading and participates in karate!

Last fall we headed out to Maumee Bay State Park to get some photos of Mary to document this exciting time in her life. We were so lucky to get beautiful weather, some lovely golden hour light in a tall grass field and the most gorgeous sunset. Seriously… wait till you see these images!
