Engagement sessions are the best way to help you feel comfortable on your wedding day. All of our Toledo wedding photography packages include an engagement session. This ensures our couples have an opportunity to see what it’s like working with a professional photographer before the biggest day of their lives. And as a photographer we get to see how they interact, what their quirks are, we get to know them on a much more personal level, we see how comfortable they are in front of the camera, we help them find poses they feel great in. It really is a win win situation.

Our engagement sessions happen whenever the couple wants. We realize every couple has a different ideal time for photos based on schedules, when they want to send out the save the dates, what their favorite season is or how soon they want to celebrate the engagement. We’ve had couples get engagement photos done two weeks after the proposal or two weeks before the wedding. Whatever works!

We do suggest having the session done later in the day – ideally about two hours before sunset. This ensures the sun will be low enough to not create awkward shadows on faces or squinty eyes but we still get that beautiful gold color through the trees to act as a natural rim light on our subjects.

When planning what to wear the biggest thing I suggest is to find something you love – something you feel so confident in. Patterns, textures and layering are great! But we suggest staying away from loud patterns, or logos that could distract from faces. Ladies, wearing a dress is so flattering and can really aid in creating movement in your photos.

At the end of the day, the most important thing is to have fun. The more relaxed you are the more natural your photos will be. We are excited to work with you!
